Hello Doctor I am 48 years old and I recently had ultrasound and the findings said; The right kidney measures 99 X 53 X 39mm with a cortical thickness of 17mm. Mid pole calculus in seen measuring 7 X 5 X 5mm. The left kidney measures 121 X 58 X 67mm with a cortical of 16mm. Cortical medullary differentiation is preserved bilaterally. There is no evidence of hydronephrosis, mass or cyst. Can you plase tell me id there is something wrong with my kidneys? What cal I do to fix them? I appreciate in advance for your help!
Your ultrasound findings suggests normal size of both kidneys with normal cortico-medullary differentiation. There is a 7 X 5 mm calculus in mid pole of right kidney but there are no features of obstruction(it is a good sign). There is no hydronephrosis in either kidneys.
You may need conservative treatment for right renal calculus as it is asymptomatic. You may need calculus dissolving medicines and you should drink plenty of water. These may help in spontaneous passage of calculus. If findings persists then you may need other options like lithotripsy etc. You should consult urologist.
Get well soon. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
